A natural history and oddities shop in Phoenix featuring taxidermy, bones, entomology specimens, and all things beautifully macabre.
Creepy, Classy, and Completely Unique
Whenever I’m planning a spooky trip, there’s usually one or two spots I’m the most excited about, and for Arizona that was Curious Nature. I say this because, my god did it live up to the hype. This is one of my always recommend, must stop stops when anywhere near Phoenix.
The shop is creepy chic and so gorgeous. The displays strike a solid balance of unsettling things that look elegant. Framed scorpions and butterflies. All the accoutrement needed to make a bouquet filled with bones and feathers. And overall just a very well curated collection of dark, beautiful items.
On a personal note, I’ve been slowly building a dark gallery wall over the years. I have a vision of what I want up there, but for the most part it doesn’t exist, or at least I haven’t found it yet. Curious Nature had one of the pieces I made up in my head and I was so excited. The gasp I gusped.
The staff was also really nice and helped me workshop “do I ship this or take it in my carry-on” and “how have other people displayed this piece,” which I really appreciate as I am a talk-it-out girl. If I was a local, My Saturday morning routine would be caffeine at Dark Hall Coffee followed by a little trip to Curious Nature. They also offer classes and do markets, but on my little weekend trip I wasn’t able to partake. Another trip or five might be in order.
