A rebellious little coffee shop fueled by horror, a loud design, and drinks as creative as the decor.
The Original Rad Coffee Spot
I’ve now been to the Long Beach, Riverside, and Upland locations, and Upland is actually where it all started. This is the original Rad Coffee, and while it’s the smallest of the ones I’ve been to, it still delivers, but still brings the same fun punk feels with neon skulls, cement floors, and horror vibes in a cozy little spot in Downtown Upland.
There’s no indoor seating, but the street it’s on is charming, with a bench on the sidewalk and a handful of great spots to explore nearby. Stardust Alley, Little Shop of Hairdos, and Penny Lane Records are all just steps away, so this is a great place to caffeinate before (or after) some spooky errands.
I usually go for their coffee drinks, which haven’t let me down yet. This time I make myself try something new, the Rad Berry tea lemonade. I wanted to love it, but the mint/berry combo did not do it for me. Either way, it’s the only miss in a long line of hits.
If you’re in the area, definitely grab a coffee, but if you’ve got more time, turn it into a little spooky day in Upland!
