Spooky Coffee Shops in SoCal

Looking for a caffeine fix with a side of horror? Whether you’re a “Halloween is a state of mind” person or just starting to feel those fall vibes creep in early, Southern California has some killer year-round spooky coffee shops. These are my go-to coffee shops when I want strong drinks, horror decor, and a little something weird with my caffeine.

Burnt Umber Coffee ft. Petals & Poison Tea Room

📍 12752 Valley View St STE N P Q, Garden Grove, CA 92845

This one leans moody and witchy. It’s tucked away in Garden Grove, and the vibe is calm, dark, and just a little haunted. You’ll find good coffee, beautifully brewed teas, and a quiet spot to read or zone out. It’s quiet, stylish, and a great low-key place to read ghost stories or pretend you’re writing one.

Coffinated Coffee

📍 1627 1/4 N Hacienda Blvd, La Puente, CA 91744

Creepy clowns. Cult horror. A wall of VHS tapes. Coffinated Coffee fully embraces its horror theme. The drinks are strong, the specials are fun (get the Killer Scream), and you’ll definitely leave with at least one photo of a horror figure lurking in the corner. Bonus points for legitimately scary movies on the TV to watch while your enjoy your coffee.

Horror Vibes Coffee

📍 5251 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601

This was my first horror coffee shop, so it holds a special place in my heart. The walls are covered in horror icon murals, the coffee menu is stacked with themed drinks like Gordy’s Home (my favorite) and Crystal Lake Chai Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah, and it’s very close to Horror Row in Burbank. The space is small but packed with personality, and they rotate new drinks in often enough that I always check their Instagram before I visit. While this is focused on SoCal, spots, Horror Vibes also just opened a new location in Las Vegas!

Rad Coffee

📍 Locations in Covina, Long Beach, Riverside, and Upland

Be still my teenage-skater-punk-loving heart. Rad Coffee has been serving punk-inspired lattes since before it was cool. They started in 2015, and with their neon skull art, flyer-covered walls, and loyal fanbase, they defo put the rad in Rad Coffee. Their seasonal menu goes hard (definitely check their Instagram around Halloween), and they’ve got a fun merch line if this is your vibe (obviously it should be).

Roast the Dead Coffee

📍 Locations in Yucaipa and Riverside

It’s a bit of a trek if you’re not in the area, but Roast the Dead is a destination coffee shop for horror fans. Their drinks are delicious and properly themed, there’s a Leatherface Latte, a Chucky cold brew, you get the idea. The decor is next-level: murals of horror icons outside, spooky memorabilia inside, and so many photo ops. It’s part coffee shop, part mini horror museum.

Zombee Donuts

📍 802 E Chapman Ave, Fullerton, CA 92831

Okay, this one is more doughnut than coffee, but they do have some killer coffee drinks and a spooky interior that’s perfect for a creepy morning treat. From blood-splattered jelly-filled doughnuts to themed creations shaped like vampires and monsters, this place is fun and family-friendly. I recommend the Dead Elvis mocha, but there are plenty of spooky drinks to choose from. Snap a few fun pics, grab some tasty treats, and hit the road caffeinated and sugar-loaded.

Final Sip

Spooky coffee culture is alive and thriving in SoCal, and I hope it keeps growing. Whether you’re hunting for a Halloween themed coffee shop in October, planning a spooky day out, or just want to try something a little different, these spots are unique, delicious, and seriously fun.
