Dunnnn dun… dunnn dun… dunnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun.
This gem of an exhibit has been open since September, and if you’ve been putting off the trip, the time is now. It officially closes on July 26, so as of writing this, you have five weeks left before Jaws sets sail.
Located inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, there’s a lot to see if you have the time and energy. But the Jaws exhibit itself is large and took a little over an hour for me, so do with that what you will.
Jaws Originals, Interactive Exhibits, Photo Ops & More
Not to sound trite, but there is something for everyone at the Jaws exhibit. If you’re a a cinephile obsessed with art of film making, a casual 4th of July watcher that likes to kick off summer with a splash, or even a kid along for the ride (warning: there will be blood), it’s a fun time.
As an avid reader of the little placards in museums, I was in heaven. For every prop, photo, movie clip, you name it, there was a little blurb about the story behind what was happening, where it came from, or some other fun fact.
For those less enthused to read every info card, there’s so much more:
- Star in your own Dolly Zoom shot
- Play the infamous Jaws theme
- Operate a mechanical shark
- Snag some great pics with all of the photo ops
Make a Day of It
The Academy Museum is on Wilshire, a less than 10-minute drive from some other spooky favorites: Blackcraft Coffee, Slasher World, and Foxblood. Sounds like a perfect spooky day to kick off the summer slasher season.
