Where Horror Movies Come to Life

My first Halloween Horror Nights was back in 2006, and I still remember how completely mind-blown I was. I’d been to haunts before, but this was a whole different level. Special effects, professional makeup, sets, and the sheer thrill of walking through scenes from your favorite horror movies. Ever since, it’s been my favorite big budget haunt (even if my bank account winces every time I buy tickets). Speaking of, if you’re not sure which ticket is right for you, check out the Halloween Horror Nights Tickets blog for a breakdown on ticket options!

The Mazes Are the Main Event

Every year features new mazes based on classic horror franchises or Universal originals. One year you’re running from Leatherface, the next La Llorona is scaring the crap out of you. The production value is incredible and there’s nothing like confidently walking into a maze and running out screaming for your life.

Tips From a (Slightly Tired) Regular

The costs and the crowds have both gone up, and I’m at the point where Express Pass is non-negotiable. (I’ve also done the RIP Tour once and my god was it a splurge, but amazing). Aside from spending your entire savings, there are some pretty straight forward tips that work pretty well: try to go earlier in the season, skip Fridays and Saturdays, and head straight for your must-do mazes as soon as gates open.

Also: wear comfy shoes, bring some ibuprofen, and mentally prepare for chaos. It’s loud, it’s packed, it’s overstimulating, but it’s still the most fun I’ve had getting terrorized by strangers in masks.
